Understanding the Scheme

The PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is a groundbreaking initiative launched to provide 1 crore households with free electricity of up to 300 units per month. It is one of the largest solar subsidy programmes ever launched globally.

Eligibility Criteria

Any homeowner with a valid electricity consumer number, an Aadhaar-linked bank account, and a suitable rooftop is eligible. The rooftop must be capable of accommodating the solar panels and receiving adequate sunlight.

Subsidy Structure

  • 1 kW system: ₹30,000 subsidy
  • 2 kW system: ₹60,000 subsidy
  • 3 kW and above: ₹78,000 (fixed cap)

How to Apply

Visit pmsuryaghar.gov.in, register with your electricity consumer number, and submit your DISCOM application for a Net Meter. Once your MNRE-empanelled vendor installs the system, you submit the completion certificate and bank details to receive your subsidy directly.
